Illinois State University's graduate programs prepare students for scholarly, professional, and creative endeavors. Our nearly 3,000 graduate students call Illinois State home. Illinois State offers over 40 master's programs with over 80 master's sequences, one specialist program, and 11 doctoral degree programs, as well as numerous graduate certificates.
Unlike for a bachelor's degree where all students apply with a common application and have common requirements, admission to a graduate program requires that you meet requirements at three levels:
Our Academics section provides a snapshot of each of our programs and their program-specific requirements.
A student who has received one bachelor's degree from Illinois State University (or from another college or university accredited for baccalaureate degrees by the appropriate regional accrediting association) may receive a second bachelor's degree at Illinois State University.
A student applying into a second bachelor's program should complete the Undergraduate Application for Admission. An applicant must meet the minimum admission requirements for the specified program in order to be admitted.
The program of study completed for the second degree must include at least 32 semester hours of coursework taken after the granting of the first degree, of which 30 semester hours must be taken in residence at Illinois State. At least 24 of the 32 semester hours taken toward the second degree must be senior college level.
