A CPA since 2014, JD worked for CLA, LLP for three years before moving to Charlotte, North Carolina, in 2017 to take a job as a credit trader at Wells Fargo Securities. Currently, he works as the head of cash securities IPV at Wells Fargo. Outside of work he stays active with the Charlotte Symphony Orchestra board of trustees and finance committee and is the network leader for the ISU Charlotte Area Alumni Network. JD also served in both the US Navy and the Naval Reserve. He now devotes a significant amount of time to mentoring transitioning veterans.  

JD grew up around ISU campus, having attended Metcalf for two years before coming to campus in 2009 as a transfer student. As a student, he was a part of the Financial Management Association where he was awarded the FMA Leadership Award and the Center for Investment Research Award. When he returned to complete his master's he became involved with the MBA Association where he contributed to the development of a community-volunteer group.

He currently serves on the Alumni Association board of directors' board development and awards committees.
